PURPOSE
The primary purpose of the Accountant role at the Head Office Branch in Windhoek is to manage and oversee financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. The Accountant provides insightful financial analysis to aid in business decision-making while adhering to company policies, legislative requirements, and regulatory standards. This role is pivotal in enhancing the company’s financial performance and operational efficiency within a retail environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Accounting Degree or any recognised financial qualification.
- Experience:
- 1–5 years of experience in a similar role or related industry, preferably in retail.
- Proficiency in managing balance sheets with foundational VAT, tax, and financial control knowledge.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Licensing:
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
KEY RESULT Perfomance
- Financial Reporting and Accounting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including management accounts and month-end reports.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations.
- Handle month-end procedures and produce reconciliation files for review.
- Creditor Management:
- Oversee monthly creditor reconciliations and first release of payments.
- Effectively manage creditors to optimise working capital, credit terms, and rebates.
- Financial Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all processes adhere to the Minimum Control Framework.
- Administer foreign currency transactions in compliance with company policies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing and managing annual budgets.
- Support managers with financial planning and management within their departments.
- Fixed Asset Management:
- Maintain the company’s fixed asset register, including IT equipment.
- Advisory and Analytical Support:
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data analysis.
- Support business decision-making with accurate and detailed financial information.
