Credit Controller

PURPOSE
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing customer credit risk, ensuring timely collections, enforcing credit policies, and maintaining healthy cash flow. This role supports the financial wellbeing of the business while safeguarding relationships with key stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- A Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Business will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2- 4 years’ experience in credit control.
- Working knowledge of credit risk assessment and business systems i.e. Kerridge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem solving mindset and service orientated attitude.
- Ability to manage pressure, prioritize effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Integrity, accountability, and proactive work ethic.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Manage the debtor portfolio to ensure payments are received within approved credit terms.
- Monitor and enforce credit limits in line with company and credit insurance policies.
- Evaluate and process new credit applications, including periodic KYC updates.
- Handle customer queries and follow up on outstanding payments in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and distribute accurate monthly customer statements.
- Accurately process and allocate customer payments.
- Process and reconcile the cashbook monthly and proactively resolve unreconciled items.
- Coordinate with internal departments, including sales and finance, to resolve account-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with administrative and audit requirements.
